Legal; Additional Important Information
April’s filer is a tool to assist you in self-preparing and filing your tax return in the U.S. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and completeness of all data you've provided, inputted, imported, or uploaded. Neither April nor the filer provides tax, legal, financial, accounting, or other professional advice. If your situation is complicated, or if you would like more specific tax planning advice as to your particular situation, please consult a qualified tax advisor.
Coverage: The filer is not available in all jurisdictions and does not support all tax situations. See below to determine if using the filer is right for you this year. Please note that certain states, forms, and features may not have been made available yet, and service options and features are subject to change. We reserve the right to restrict or limit availability and features for security, legal, or regulatory purposes.
The filer supports U.S. users filing federal income taxes. april will be available to e-file in all states. april will be available to e-file in all states. The opening date is subject to an approval from the state. You can e-file your federal return and return to file your state return.
The filer will support standard, common income types, deductions, and credits. Certain exceptions may apply depending on added tax complexity, and state coverage will vary by state. The filer will support the following federal tax situations:
• Income:
- Income reported on Form W-2
- Interest and dividend income (Forms 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-OID)
- Stock sales, including crypto investments (Forms 1099-B, 8949)
- Business income (Schedule C)
- Income reported on Forms 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-K
- Business vehicles
- Section 179 Depreciation
- Business use of home (simple version)
- Unemployment income reported on form
1099-G
- Retirement income (Form 1099-R)
- Social Security income (Form SSA-1099)
- Gambling and certain other winnings (Form W2-G)
- Certain other income (alimony, jury duty, cancellation of debt, etc.)
• Deductions and Credits:
- Standard or itemized deductions
- Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
- Child Tax Credit (CTC)
- Other Dependents Credit (ODC)
- Dependent Care Credit (DCC)
- Education Credits (AOTC/LLC)
- Premium Tax Credit (PTC for healthcare marketplace plans)
- Student loan interest deduction
- Education expenses deduction (for teachers)
- Health Savings Account (HSA) deduction
- Retirement deduction for IRA, SEP and SIMPLE contributions
- Alimony paid deduction
- Itemized deductions supported:
- Mortgage interest deduction
- Real estate deduction
- Personal property tax deduction
- Charitable contributions & donations deduction
- Gambling loss deduction
- Medical and dental expenses deduction
The filer currently does not support:
- Itemized deductions claimed on Schedule A
- Rental property income and Form K-1
- Foreign income and addresses
- Non-resident returns
- Taxpayers under the age 18 as of December 31, 2023
- Individuals with ITINs or ATINs
- Taxable refunds reported on Form 1099-G
- Adoption credits
- Multiple state filing
- Amendments
If made available by april’s partner, there may be an option to file with a professional tax prepared via aprilPro. The professional preparer may be able to assist you with tax use cases not supported by april’s Filer. The partner will provide you with supported tax situations and pricing for our professional tax filing product.
April, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to refuse tax filing services to any users whose tax situations fall beyond the scope of the Services April provides.
April may offer file upload with optical character recognition for Forms 1040 and W-2, but you are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and completeness of the uploaded or scanned data.
You also are solely responsible for reviewing, approving, and authorizing the filing of your tax return in a timely manner, as well as verifying the status of your tax return. April is not responsible for any delay, penalty, late-filing, or other consequence. It is your responsibility to pay any owed taxes in full in a timely manner as required by applicable law.
April’s Referral Partners may charge you, or have April charge you, a fee for the use of April’s tax filing services.
Refund and Tax Payment Options: For federal and state refund and tax payment options, the filer currently only offers ACH direct deposit and check as options. The filer does not currently allow for money orders, wire payments/deposits, credit cards, or installment plans.
Maximum Refund Guarantee: If you find an error in the tax preparation that entitles you to a larger refund (or smaller liability), April will refund any fees you paid to April to use its filer to prepare that return and you may use our service to amend your return at no additional charge. To qualify, the larger refund or smaller tax liability must not be due to differences or inaccuracies in data supplied by you, your choice not to claim a deduction or credit, positions taken on your return that are contrary to law, or changes in federal or state tax laws.
Accuracy Guarantee: If April’s tax preparation software makes a mathematical error that results in your payment of a penalty and/or interest to the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) that you would otherwise not have been required to pay, April will reimburse you up to a maximum of $10,000.
Assistance: If you receive an audit letter from the IRS or a state tax authority in connection with an accepted tax return filed through April, April will provide you with informational assistance, such as responses to FAQs or links to resources on the IRS’s or other tax authority’s website. April will not represent you before the relevant tax authority or provide legal advice.

If your completed tax return is rejected by the IRS or state tax authority, and the error identified by the IRS or state tax authority can be corrected, follow the guidance provided by April to review and correct the error or
contact us. If your completed tax return still cannot be filed and accepted after following the instructions provided and working with April, please
contact us.
Third-Party Fees and Taxes: For any fees or payments, taxes and/or third-party fees (over which April has no control) may apply.
