With client authorization, april provides wealth management firms with access to a holistic view of their clients' financial lives, pulled directly through its direct API with the IRS.

Today, we announced an expansion of the Tax Data and Insights capabilities within our Integrated Tax Platform, purpose-built for financial advisors. With client authorization, april provides wealth management firms with access to a holistic view of their clients’ financial lives, pulled directly through its direct API with the IRS. From there, april surfaces actionable, precise planning opportunities advisors can leverage to deepen their client relationships.

Drive organic growth with personalized, actionable insights

With april’s Tax Data & Insights capabilities, advisors can now:

  • Access a holistic view of your client’s financial life: Get direct visibility into a client’s entire financial life through a structured report of their tax transcripts. Clients just need to provide authorization with a digital signature.*

  • Proactively flag tax-optimized planning opportunities: Surface actionable tax insights such as capital loss carryforwards and unclaimed cash yield throughout the year.

  • Identify opportunities to increase share of wallet: Leverage a clear view of client’s held-away assets — where they are and total value — to power consolidation conversations and grow AUM.

“Tax data is one of the most valuable sources of client insight, yet it’s historically been hard to access at scale,” said Ben Borodach, co-founder and CEO of april. “By combining client-authorized tax data with our tax engine, we’re helping firms turn tax data into real planning opportunities.”

Powered by the tax engine behind 1.4 million returns

april’s Data & Insights capabilities run on april’s proprietary, nationally licensed tax engine, which filed more than 1.4 million federal and state returns in 2026.

By pairing this tax engine with its direct integration with the IRS, firms can gain a more complete view of a client’s financial picture and identify opportunities for precise, tax-optimized financial planning.

Firms can access tax data and insights directly within april’s Integrated Tax Platform, or surface them within their existing software and advisor workflows. By enabling deeper customization, april supports frictionless implementation and advisor adoption without adding friction to a firm’s existing technology stack.
